Workshop: Gegen den Femizid an älteren Frauen*!

At this 2 day workshop we will collectively create a banner and quilt piece in response to the first femicide of 2024. A 72 year old woman in need of care was murdered by her husband who then committed suicide. This follows a pattern of femicides, termed ‘femi(ni)zid-suizide’ by BIWI KEFEMPOM collective Vienna, as well as a specific pattern of the murder of elderly women and/ or those in need of care. Such femicides bring up big questions about care under patriarchy and capitalism and the treatment of elderly women in our society.
Following an introduction to the Resistance Quilt Project, we will then look at some texts about this type of femicide, discuss what we think must change to end it, and create a banner & quilt piece reflecting our ideas.
You do not need any creative skills or knowledge of feminism to take part in this workshop. No graphic details of the femicide beyond what is in this event description will be discussed. The workshop will be in English but translation to German is always possible. The workshop is free!
